Sveiki, delegatai 
Stebėdamas po truputį augantį MUN judėjimą Lietuvoje, negaliu nesidžiaugti. Mokydamasis JAV, Čikagoje, pats prisijungiau prie MUN komandos St. Ignatius College Prep, vienoje iš stipriausių JAV MUN komandų (po paskutinės mūsų pergalės gruodžio mėnesį, St.Ignatius MUN komanda įsitvirtino septintoje vietoje visoje JAV). Man buvo suteikta galimybė atstovauti Katarą OPEC komitete Washington university MUN konferecijoje, Venezuelą ECOSOC komitete Čikagos MUN konferencijoje ir Pietų Afrikos Respubliką Columbia university MUN konferencijoje Niujorke. Kita stotelė – Izraelis, MUN konferencijoje Kalifornijoje.
Kadangi nuo pat pirmo pabandymo MUNuoti pamilau šią veiklą, įdėjau daug pastangų ruošiantis konferencijoms – tad visose trijose išvardintose konferencijose gavau geriausio delegato apdovanojimą. Bet ne apie tai aš Jums, mielieji, rašau
Čikagos MUN konferencija (CIMUN), kurioje man teko garbė atstovauti Venezuelą, yra viena didžiausių (jei ne didžiausia) MUN konferencijų Vidurio Amerikoje http://www.cimun.org/. Ji yra žinoma dėl savo intensyvių krizių, “nerealios” atmosferos, komitetų sesijų vidurnakčiais ir nuosavos televizijos konferencijos metu. Organizuojama MUNDO organizacijos, CIMUN kviečia dalyvius iš viso pasaulio: Meksikos, Kanados, Prancūzijos, Kolumbijos, Vokietijos, Olandijos. Visa bėda, nė viena iš tų šalių nieko nelaimi. O va lietuviai (yay, lietuviai!) du kartus tapo geriausiais CIMUN kalbėtojais (Dominykas Milašius tą pasiekė 2009-aisias). Po pergalės šiemet man buvo pasiūlytas štai toks planas.
Jei iki 2012-ųjų metų gruodžio pavyksta surinkti lietuvių delegaciją, kuri norėtų ir galėtų vykti į CIMUN, organizatoriai mums siūlytų didžiules nuolaidas dalyvavimui (originali kaina už konferenciją – 300 dolerių, tad apie 800 litų, nėra mažai). Iš esmės, įmanoma ir tai, kad lietuviams tektų mokėti tik už bilietą į JAV. Žinant bilietų kainas, svarbiausia KUO GREIČIAU surinkti komandą – 5-6 žmones. Patirtis – neįkainojama. Prizai labai gražūs. O jei pasiseks greitai apsisukti – ir kainos labai įkandamos (ypač, jei gausim paramą iš įvairių jaunimo veiklas skatinančių organizacijų).
Aš į Lietuvą grįžtu birželio 17-ąją, ir nuo tada iki pat gruodžio mielai mokyčiau visko, ką reikia žinoti apie MUN. Turėtų būti smagu.
Tad, gal ir verta pabandyti?

Ingrida and Gabija from LithuanianMUN oranizers’ team participated in the training courses called “Youth Dimension” on January 20th – 24th. These courses were organized by Lithuanian Agency of International Youth Co-operation and held in a training centre in Trakai
region, Lithuania. The man participants were organizers of youth exchange and democracy projects, youth initiatives.
LithuanianMUN received a subsidy from European Union funds as a democracy project.
During the courses girls learned about Conflict Management, dissemination of results, team building, non-formal education, European dimension in projects, enterprise and creativity, administrational details of projects’ implementation. The courses were very intensive and useful, so Ingrida and Gabija are ready to share all what they have learned with the rest of the team to make This Project unforgettable!
Invitation to Szeged Model United Nations (SzeMUN) 2012:
We would like to invite one or more delegations from your university to our third annual Model United Nations conference, SzeMUN, which will take place 11- 13 April 2012, in Szeged, Hungary.
Model United Nations conferences have been and are held throughout the globe, on all continents and in many countries. The goal of such an event is to provide a chance for students to get familiar with recent issues, to improve their understanding of current events, diplomacy, international relations and politics. At an MUN conference, debating techniques and skills are also contested, as well as the use of English.
Delegations represent one country each, adopting different countries’ views and beliefs, examining their background and getting familiar with them. Furthermore, realistic rules of procedure are used to suit the needs of such simulations. The delegates need to follow the dress-code of the conference as well.

Youth Goes Global: International Model United Nations LT received EU financial support!!!
For the first time in Lithuania – a unique project uniting three countries. In December 2011 the Agency of International Youth Co-operation (http://www.jtba.lt/en) managing the EU programme Youth in Action in Lithuania announced the results of the project competition. We were lucky!
The first international Model United Nations conference, which takes place in Vilnius in April 2012, has won the EU subsidy under the 1.3. Action of this programme: Youth Democracy Projects.
What does this achievement means for the project’s participants?
There are going to be a few preparation phases of the International Model United Nations LT.
In the middle of February, a group of 8 Lithuanian students organizing this project are going to meet the partners from Siegen University in Germany. During the seminar of four days the organizers are going to discuss ways of communicating during the implementation of this project, the importance of United Nations for the youth of both Germany and Lithuania. A visit to The Bonn UN Campus is also planned in order to discuss the topics of the conference with the experts of the UN.
The second phase is starting at the end of April, when 35 participants from Germany are going to come to conference in Vilnius, accompanied by students from Belarus and Lithuania. The simulation is planning to unite 100 people from three different countries. During the four days conference, the participants are going to learn how to prepare a draft for the resolution, the rules of procedure, participate in the opening ceremony, meet the experts of the topics and discuss the topics of the conference with them, present speeches and write resolutions in their committees. The evenings are also going to be meaningful – at the opening day there is going to be an official welcoming event and a cultural evening the next day.
The topics of the conference are really wide. The first one is about energy sustainability after the Fukushima nuclear Power Plant tragedy. The second topic is about international migration and human rights. Before the conference the participants will be able to prepare individually and participate in online training courses guided by E-Academy.
Even a documentary movie is going to be made about this unique project. The experience of both participants and organizers will be published in a fact sheet prepared in educational format. It is hoped that the fact sheet will be helpful for young people, wishing to organize projects about UN role in the world back at their schools or universities.
We are very pleased that the EU programme Youth in action financially supported this project, so there is no participation fee! The organizers of the conference also commit to cover the costs of the event, provide daily allowance for food and to accommodate participants from various cities of Lithuania.
We want to remind, that the conference is going to take place at the Institute of International Relations and Political Science of Vilnius University, Vokieciu Street 10 during the 26th – 29th of April. The official language of the simulation is English language.
The registration is going to start at the 16th of January! During the months of December – January the events presenting the simulation are going to be held in various schools and universities in Vilnius and Kaunas.
